Known primarily for developing the Burj Khalifa, the iconic 828 meter skyscraper that defines the Dubai skyline, Alabbar is looking to translate his success in ultra high end real estate into a series of premium hotel projects within Southern Africa.
The announcement follows what Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa described as a highly productive working meeting with the developer. According to the president, these discussions have paved the way for a massive investment in premium hospitality designed to elevate Zimbabwe’s status as a premier destination for international travelers. The effort was largely coordinated by Dr Paul Tungwarara, the president’s special advisor on investment and empowerment, as part of a broader push by the government to attract internationally recognized developers to modernize the nation’s tourism infrastructure through foreign direct investment.
The partnership is moving quickly into its operational phase, with Alabbar and an executive delegation scheduled to arrive in Zimbabwe later this month. During this visit, they will conduct site inspections and finalize the logistical details of where these luxury establishments will be located. As one of the worlds most successful property moguls, Alabbars entry into the region signals a growing confidence in Zimbabwe’s ability to sustain world class luxury assets similar to those found in some of Asia’s most glamorous cities.
